Diego’s Demise

Diego, the museum’s bearded dragon, passed away Thursday, May 24, at the approximate age of 10 years old. Diego was a beloved member of the museum’s reptilian community and will be missed.

After residing in a private home as a pet for some time, Diego made the Joseph Moore Museum his home for 8 years. Diego was valued for his docile demeanor. Diego loved to make new friends with museum visitors and explore the museum in the hands of staff members. His other favorite activities were basking in the light from his heat lamp and eating his favorite food, crickets.

He leaves not only an empty reptile enclosure, but a small, lizard-shaped hole in all of our hearts.
